Renowned as a foodie heaven, Brisbane’s Regional Flavours will return to South Bank Parklands in 2021 as a tasty three-part event series from June to October.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the festival will offer a suite of new programs, immersive experiences, stallholder offerings and esteemed chefs and restaurateurs.
“Across the three months, food lovers will get the chance to explore our local and national culinary landscape and watch some of the country’s best chefs including Paul West, Alanna Sapwell and Louis Tikaram cook up a storm,” Cr Schrinner said.
“The first event to be showcased, Grazed and Grown, will take place from 18 until 20 June and looks to celebrate Australia’s incomparable landscape, our makers and pioneering chefs, with a focus on sustainability.
“There will be a specially curated stallholder marketplace, live music stages and talks with industry leaders, hosted by Matt Kirkegaard, where guests can take part in discussions and listen to local producers share their stories and insights on topical themes within the agriculture and farming industry.”
The coveted demonstration stage, The Kitchen, will also return and form part of the program, hosted by Alastair McLeod, Chef and TV personality.
“I have been involved in Regional Flavours for many years and it is an event that myself, and many other local chefs, love to be a part of. It is wonderful to see the event make a comeback, evolved and adjusted despite the current climate”, Mr McLeod said.
“like The Kitchen stage, The Signature Events are also a great way for Australian talent and restaurateurs to showcase their world-class flavours and skill, while incorporating the key themes of Regional Flavours, particularly around sustainable ethos,” Mr McLeod said.
“The Love Thy Neighbour, Signature Event, will look to demonstrate the way in which local producers work together to combat waste, by up-cycling unused goods to neighbouring businesses.”
Grazed and Grown cooking demonstrations and panel discussions will look to incorporate native ingredients, waste-free processes or how to grow your own produce, bought to you by local talent, Matt Sinclair, Josh Lopez, Will Cowper and more.
Global Fiesta, the second event within the Regional Flavours series, will take place from 20 to 22 August and will celebrate International food trends and Australia’s rich multicultural DNA, by highlighting and supporting the diverse culinary offerings provided by South Bank retailers.
Providore Park will conclude the 2021 event series, transforming the Parklands into a delicatessen haven, celebrating wine, cheese, and chocolate. Running from 15 to 17 October, the event shines a light on South Bank’s iconic, alfresco setting ahead of the summer months and offers live music and exclusive masterclasses, specialising in cheese making, how to achieve the perfect platter and wine pairing, hosted by local talent and praised sommeliers.
Grazed and Grown will offer four premium ticket add-on experiences, Signature Events, to be held at South Bank’s River Quay, whereby guests can relish in the flavours of Brisbane’s finest chefs as they plate up dishes against the backdrop of Brisbane City.
