Brisbane-based dance group Bolivia Marka perform traditional Bolvian folkloric dancing, representing dances from the world-heritage recognised Oruro Carnival in Bolivia – a religious and cultural festival in Oruro, Bolivia celebrated since the 18th century! An example of one of the oldest cultural traditions in Latin America, featuring wonderfully detailed and colourful costumes Bolivia Marka is not to be missed at Global Fiesta.
Experience an evocative and inspiring repertoire of music from Iraq, Egypt, Syria and other regions of the Middle East delivered by Shanasheel. The group features traditional instruments in their performances including joze (spike fiddle), ney (flute), oud (fretless stringed instrument, similar to the lute in appearance), riq (Arabic tambourine) and darbuka (goblet drum).
